June 19 was celebrated as National reading day. This day was celebrated as the memory of the death anniversary of Sri P.N.Panicker who is known as the father of library movement in Kerala. Today we are living in an era of digital technology. Young children are born and brought up in the midst of technology. So celebrating reading days are contemporary relevant. Reading and books have an important role in the social upliftment of human beings.
Today special assembly was conducted in M.T.H.S for girls kottarakara. The assembly was conducted by class 10-B students. Dr Suman Alexander, retired principal St.Gregorios college kottarakara was the chief guest of reading day program. She inaugurated and delivered a wonderful speech about the importance of reading. Honourable headmaster Sri Jacob Abraham inaugurated the Vidhyarangam kalasahithya vedhi and released the Vayana pathippu. School choir sung a beautiful song about the importance of reading. വായനാ മൂല competition was conducted in the school.The competition was conducted as upper primary and high school sessions. All students participated in this class wise and make a wonderful reading corner in their classes.
